Description

Educational Psychologist (EP) with over 20 years experience working in the area of special educational needs throughout Ireland.

Services Include:

Psychological Assessment

A Psychological assessment typically lasts 2-3 hours and involves a number of features including detailed developmental history-taking, observation and triangulation of information gained through use of questionnaires/rating scales. One-to-one testing certainly covers part of the psychological assessment and as such we have a wide range of tests available for the assessment of intelligence, educational attainments, literacy/numeracy skills and deficits and developmental disorders.

Social, Emotional and Behavioural Needs Assessment and Support:

Assessment can be carried out in the area of Social, Emotional and Behavioural Needs. This will typically involve initial one-to-one assessment of the child or young person to determine ability and attainment (Literacy and Numeracy) levels. Observation will form a large component of this assessment including in-clinic observation as well as parental and school questionnaires, which will all inform the findings and recommendations.  Other standardised questionnaires and rating scales are also an option. Should school or home observation be required, this can be arranged for an additional fee when consent has been granted.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) assessment:

Autism Spectrum Disorder is neuro-developmental in nature and is identified by differences in social communication, social interaction, flexibility of thought and sensory regulation/processing.

Autism assessments will be conducted by a multi-agency team (typically one or more professionals from varying backgrounds). At present we are developing our team to include a Locum Speech and Language Therapist and Community Paediatric involvement. Our team will follow the NICE guidelines and make use of the DSM-5 criteria in relation to presentation.
